Thank you all for visiting my blog!
Where the weekend turn up at? Mine is on my scalp *WHOT WHOT*
I keep saying thank you cause I didn’t really think anyone would be interested in what I had to say about hair but yay for all the comments, insta messages and emails, thank youuuuu!!!
OK I’ve been getting messages saying oh what’s your hair regimen like? what products do you use? what do you do to your hair? Uhm and some rather deep hair questions but errm I’m going to try to be as clear as possible, what works for me, might not work for you but there are some staples that are important for beautiful healthy hair (and length retention).
Which brings HERE- every Saturday or at least I will try to put up a post on products I use, why and how I styled my hair for the week hence the Wash Day Chronicles 🙂
DISCLAIMER- I tried to keep it short as possible.
I wash my hair every Saturday when I don’t have protective styling (basically braids, weave, wig or anything that does not require me to touch my hair ( I AM A WIG LOVER- I haven’t fixed a weave in ages and don’t think I ever will, even on my wedding day – uhm yea not about the weave life, miss me with that 🙂 but I keep my hair moisturized with my spray bottle mix (everyone who has a spray bottle should put their hands up and say AYYYYYY!) PLEASE YOUR HAIR SHOULD ALWAYS BE MOISTURIZED yes I am screaming at the top of my lungs please please it is important to keep your hair moisturized and drink waterrrr!!! Exerciseeee while you’re at it too hehe
Yes I am that girl who rarely goes out on Friday night and flakes on plans cause I to stay home to do what? WASH MY HAIR on SATURDAY (say ayyyy somebody) oh well back to my gist, I don’t believe in expensive hair products as uhm I’m still hustling so spending a lot of money on products isn’t economical but hey rich sisters in the Lord ride on. I suggest trying products that work for your hair and sticking to them for a while so as to monitor progress.
On Friday night, I usually pre-poo my hair in preparation for wash day on Saturday when I feel my hair needs an extra oomph. Pre-poo means applying a mixture of conditioners and oils (some people use butters) to moisturize hair (particularly for dry hair), protect your hair from the drying properties of shampoo and to detangle. Section your hair into 4 and apply your pre-poo mix ( I use any cheap moisturizing conditioner I lay my hands on- PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY USING EXPENSIVE CONDITIONERS to PRE-POO (any good moisturizing conditioner is perfect- in the past, I have used the following conditioners and they are amazing- Garnier Fructis Fortifying Conditioner, Alberto Vo5 Moisture Milk Conditioner (Moisture Milks), Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Moisture and Shiny Conditioner (see eh this is life right here, I need a separate post to proclaim its awesomeness), Palmolive Naturals Conditioner and Alberto Balsam Sun Kissed Raspberry Conditioner (this deserves another post for its awesomeness-it smells like heaven, I promise you!

I used this with my Vatika Naturals Black Seed Enriched Hair Oil to pre-poo (I have also used ground nut oil yes GROUND NUT OIL, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil and Olive Oil but I like how this black oil makes my hair feel). The Black Seed Enriched Oil from Vatika contains Paraffinum Liquidum (mineral oil) which is bad for hair but errrr I like this product and this is the only product I use with mineral oil so its fine.

I applied my conditioner then the oil of my choice for my pre-poo, wore a shower cap and tied a pashmina to sleep to avoid staining my pillowcase.
On Saturday morning or mid-day, I rinsed my pre-poo mix with cold water as I massaged my scalp to increase circulation which makes my scalp feel nice and promotes hair growth. Then I shampooed with Crème of Nature Moisture and Shine Shampoo with Argan Oil from Morocco (ahn ahn abroad ingredients) which is hydrating and amazing all round. I love how my scalp feels during and after shampooing, I’ve been using this product for the past 2 years and I have no complaint whatsoever. THIS IS LOVE FOR REAL! I usually dilute mine with water to use as I feel it’s too thick but I still love it- it clears scalp build up, keeps it clean and moisturized.

I rinsed my hair then I did a tea rinse which means rinsing your hair with tea.I love Tea, I don’t use tea cups, I drink from a bucket -_- uhm I drink from a huge mug (I dare you to judge me) ok different teas have different purposes. Today, I used Peppermint tea as it gives me shiny hair and refreshes my scalp (try it and let me know if it works wonders for your scalp too).
After my tea rinse, I did a beer rinse. I wanted to remove extra build up from my hair and it makes my hair shiny and soft as my hair is coarse- the darker the brew of the beer, the more nutritious, I used a can of Carling Lager cause I forgot to buy my regular Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. Open a can of beer at room temperature and use it to rinse your hair- didn’t rinse with water yet so there was still tea and beer in my hair when I added my deep condition mix in the next step.
We need moisture and strength for our hair to grow which is the reason for maintaining a balance with our hair products. Some people do protein treatments followed by a moisture treatment BUT I AIN’T GOT TIME fo’ dah- it already takes me years to wash my hair so I just do a 50 50 ie moisture and protein mix and I am a happy bunny. I used Kanechom Karite Butter (see eh I will write a full post on Kanechom- AWESOMENESSSSSSSSSSSS yes that’s my word of the day and my protein treatment was Mayonnaise – yep that we eat ( yea I stopped using any hair mayonnaise/cholesterol 2/3 years ago cause I realized if something was good enough for me to eat surely it was good enough for my hair so I always use any full cream Mayo that comes my way (the kitchen has the best hair conditioners) and I mixed it with honey and wore my Look Great Wrap (it has gel inserts which I heat up in the microwave and wear round the house) for 40 minutes (see picture below).

RINSE! Sigh I rinsed with warm water to open my pores then sealed my pores using cold water to rinse. I dried my hair with an old t-shirt. Check out that yummy scalp 😀 ( you can see my relaxed tips).
Moisture and Protein again. I sectioned my hair into 5 and applied my Elasta QP goodies (Olive Oil Mango Butter Moisturizer and Olive Oil Mango Butter Anti-breakage Leave-in conditioner) – both products make my hair soft, prevent breakage, increase moisture and strength. I normally detangle my hair at this stage with my Giant teeth comb (but this time I was feeling my hair so I just left it).

Then I applied my Oil mix ( raw shea butter, almond oil, coconut oil, tea tree oil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil and my found my old reliable Vitale Olive Oil 4-in-1 Growth Serum (which I only use on special occasions to seal in all the moisture in my hair.
I air dried my hair 🙂
You are the real MVP for reading this post till the end.
You don’t have to follow my hair regimen, I know it takes time but patience is the key I love the results besides at times I skip some steps but I make sure my hair is clean, moisturized and happy!
What’s your wash day like?
Enjoy the rest o f your weekend and don’t forget to share your wash day stories with me.
Tea, Love and Kisses,
